The church in Philippi was the first Christian church the apostle Paul planted on the continent of Europe. Approximately 10 years later, that little outpost of the kingdom was the only church formally supporting Paul’s gospel ministry in Rome. In chapter 1 of his letter to the church, Paul gives thanks to God for the Philippian Christians and their partnership in the gospel.

Dear ones, we are partners in the gospel at our little outpost of the kingdom, Christ Fellowship. As a church, we exist to declare and display the truth and beauty of the gospel for the glory of God and the joy of all people. My prayer is that God will use this Deeper initiative to strengthen our partnership in the gospel and deepen our impact for Christ and His kingdom.

I wouldn’t be leading CF into this season if I wasn’t convinced that God will use it to further form us in Christ. I trust that as we submit to God’s word and follow the Spirit’s leading during the Deeper initiative, we will emerge from these two years reflecting God’s generosity to us in Christ more fully. Carrie and I are so looking forward to going on this journey. Let’s go deeper together, Christ Fellowship!
